Mobile phone

How it works

Using mobile SMS, consumers send keywords to initiate ‘consumer to business’ voice communication.

The consumer simply has to SMS a keyword (e.g. Sofitel, Jetstar, Avis; or Hotel, Travel, Loan, etc) to a single country-wide telephone number, 138398 (its alphanumeric representation being ‘13TEXT’) and seconds later the consumer’s mobile phone rings and they are automatically connected to the advertiser.*

Try it now! Text “bose” to “13TEXT” (138398) and see what happens.

The advertiser’s 13, 1300 or 1800 numbers can also be enabled to use our system should they wish to use their own number instead of 13TEXT.

The txtCalling™ application infrastructure comprises the following base components.

* 13TEXT is currently enabled for numbers serviced by Optus and Telstra. Vodaphone has not yet enabled their clients to send text to any 13, 1300 or 1800 number.
